December 17, 2015 by Jacki Kearslake

One of Google's doodles, this one featuring Australia Day 2015. Children building sandcastles adorned with Australian flagsEver wondered why you sometimes open up Google and see a fancy search box rather than the usual Google-branded one? What you’re seeing are ‘Google Doodles’. You’ll usually see them on significant days- holidays, celebrations and anniversaries- the latter often related to famous artists, scientists and pioneers. The 3 Elements Of An Irresistible Dental Blog, Regardless Of Your Budget

July 22, 2015 by Jacki Kearslake

The Three Elements Of An Irresistible Dental Blog

I firmly believe that the best dental websites are the ones which are infused with the practice’s personality, so I was excited to see this article by Entrepreneur-dot-com’s Pratik Dholakiya: “The 3 Elements Of An Irresistible Blog, Regardless Of Your Budget“. In it he outlines the most important elements that your website’s blog should have, written from the point of view of the business who isn’t willing or able to invest the time or money required to do anything fancy. [What The Heck Is] NAP Consistency?

July 17, 2015 by Jacki Kearslake

Answering why NAP consistency matters in local search

Let’s start with a definition of NAP…

Simply put, this acronym stands for Name, Address and Phone number which are the three most important defining pieces of information about a practice. Your own practice’s NAP will be found in many places across the internet:

  • Your website
  • Your Google My Business Page
  • Your Facebook Business Profile
  • Other social profiles
  • In online directories such as the Yellow Pages and StartLocal
  • Possibly on websites of businesses you are associated with in some way (through sponsorship, volunteer work, media stories)

Why Is NAP So Important?

Obviously this information is important as it allows prospective new patients to find and make contact with you.

But NAP has another very important function: it provides Google with trusted, third-party signals that demonstrate that your practice is a real business. While you obviously have full control over the information you put on your website and social profiles, you don’t control the directories, some of which have strict verification processes to ensure your information is from a bona fide business. Your NAP information (also called a ‘Citation’) should therefore be listed in as many relevant and trusted business and professional directories as possible as part of your marketing strategy. Confidential, Effective Help With EVERY Aspect Of Your Practice’s Online Visibility

Dentists often confide in me that they find the whole online marketing caper to be frustrating, exasperating and, on occasions, overwhelming.

There are so many moving parts. So many conflicting opinions. So many things to take into consideration.

This is where dentists seem to run into trouble. They put their trust in a digital agency or marketing consultant, only to discover that they end up paying more money than they needed to, or have been trapped into something that will cost them a lot to get out of, or they don’t seem to be achieving their expectations.

That’s where Dental Web Strategies comes in.

Our primary purpose is to help Australian dental practice owners and managers to understand online marketing and to do theirs effectively. We’re on your side: we make sure we stay abreast of best practices in all areas of online marketing so that we can pass this knowledge on to you, and help you make the best possible decision about your online visibility.
