SEO Malpractice Report – May 10, 2016

Another example of SEO Malpractice done recently for a dentist in New South Wales. Please read this cautionary tale, and check your SEO Agency’s practices. You should be able to expect your Agency to be transparent with you about what they are doing, and their work needs to comply with Google’s guidelines at all times.

Dental Marketing Expert: A Bold Claim

A cartoon figure claiming to be a Dental Marketing Expert“I’m a Dental Marketing Expert”.

These aren’t words you’ll ever hear from me.

Maybe that’s a mistake on my part. Maybe that means that other folk who claim they are “the dental marketing experts”, “the best dental SEO company in Australia”, and “Australia’s leader in dental websites” will attract all the attention from dentists who are looking for help with their online marketing.

Even after so many years working alongside dentists, helping them with their online visibility, unraveling the mayhem caused by other agencies and consultants and always striving to point them in the right direction (which isn’t always the path of least resistance), I have an aversion to the puffery of claiming such a moniker.

Maybe it’s the dentist in me…

[Continuing Education] SEO Fundamentals Certification

Feeling pretty pumped today – I’ve just completed a certification in SEO Fundamentals.

The course was run by John Heard, of Search Engine News.

In many ways, this was a refresher course: Google’s basic rules haven’t changed for a long time, although many agencies still don’t seem to know what these are 🙁

The code and much of the technical makeup of the internet also hasn’t changed.

But it’s often good to revise the basics: you and your team do this annually with CPR, and I’m sure that you still find that some of the CPD courses you do contain content that is essentially revision. [Read more…]

[Continuing Education] Lifelong Learning

I guess all those years studying, first to get into Uni, then at Uni, and then to maintain my CPD points, are to blame. Although it could just have easily gone the other way…
